Towards Use of Technology in Construction in Pakistan

The rapid evolution of technology in construction is transforming the industry, making it much safer, more cost-effective and efficient. Institutions are, therefore, now focused on how soon they adapt to these tech advancements. With the same ambition, the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) and the National University of Technology (NUTECH) have signed an agreement to collaborate towards use and support of technology in construction. The agreement is a viable effort to boost Pakistan’s construction industry and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Agreement on Technology in Construction:

According to a press statement, the signing ceremony took place in Islamabad. In the ceremony, the Chairman ABAD Asif Sumsum and Registrar NUTECH Brigadier Syed Adnan Qasim signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on use of technology in construction. While the event was also attended by General Moazzam Ijaz on behalf of NUTECH, and former Chairman ABAD Muhammad Hanif Gohar along with Danish Bin Rauf from ABAD.

The salient features of the MoU are:

  1. ABAD will support NUTECH in its academic and research activities, particularly in addressing challenges in the construction sector through projects focused on construction technology and skills development.
  • With ABAD’s full cooperation, NUTECH will provide world-class education and training to create a highly capable and effective workforce for the construction industry.
  •  Additionally, NUTECH will work with ABAD to develop internationally qualified master trainers to increase the productivity of Pakistan’s construction industry.
  • ABAD will also appoint an expert from the construction field to serve on various NUTECH committees, such as the Admissions Committee and the Academic Performance Committee.
  • These committees will collaborate to design educational programs that promote the development of the construction sector.

ABAD & Construction Technology:

On this occasion, Chairman ABAD Asif Sumsum stated that the MoU between ABAD and NUTECH will prove to be a significant milestone for the construction industry. He emphasized that the future challenges of the construction sector require modern technology and a skilled, efficient workforce.
